Newsletter #62

This newsletter is to inform you that booking for the forthcoming Strings Attached Coffee Concert season opens on Monday 13 September. Tickets will be available from Brighton Dome Box Office in person, online at or by telephone on 01273 709709.

Concerts will again be held at the Attenborough Centre for the Creative Arts (ACCA) at the University of Sussex.

Ticket prices are unchanged at £18.50 (concessions £16). A season ticket for all six concerts is £99 (concessions £84). A half-season ticket for three concerts (either the three in 2021 or the three in 2022) is £49.50 (concessions £42).

Tickets for those aged 8 – 25 are free under the Cavatina Scheme. They can only be obtained, with written proof of age, at the Brighton Dome Box Office in person in advance or at ACCA on the morning of the concert.

The rest of this newsletter repeats the details of the forthcoming concerts given in the last newsletter (except that Frank Martin’s name is spelt correctly this time) and reminds any who have not renewed their membership that now is the time to do so.

Now is the time to renew your membership of Strings Attached for the period 1 August 2021 to 31 July 2022, unless you have already done so or have only recently joined. No subscription was required for the 2020/21 season, although many members chose to renew voluntarily and some made generous donations. And indeed, although there was no formal concert season, work continued behind the scenes and we were able to offer three live-streamed concerts.

Membership forms can be downloaded from They can be returned by post to the address on the form or by attaching them to an email to . For Gift Aid purposes please complete one form per person.
Payment can be made by cheque or by bank transfer. The latter is much more convenient for us. Use your surname as the reference. If you pay by cheque after late September there may be a delay before the cheque is paid in.
Paid-up members will receive a membership card which, to save postage, will normally be given out at the October, and subsequent, concerts. It will give access to a free glass of sherry or fruit juice during concert intervals.

We very much hope you will choose to renew your membership and support our work – and that you will encourage like-minded people to join us as well.

Do you use social media?
We are still looking for someone who knows their way around the social media world to help us get in touch with a younger audience. After all, if they are aged 8 to 25 their tickets will be free under the Cavatina scheme. Contact our Chair, Mary McKean, at if you think you might be able to help.

The Calendar on contains news of other chamber music events in the area, uncertain though some of them are.

The Nicholas Yonge Society in Lewes restarts its concert series on 8 October with the Barbican Quartet and the Seaford Music Society restarts on 24 October (if you can cope with two concerts in one day).
