Newsletter #60

We are pleased to say that the livestreamed concert from the Brighton Dome on 18 April can be seen again online. A new ticket is needed at £5 per device. It can be viewed until 16 May via the Dome website or by clicking here. Once you book you have three days in which to view the concert. The Vaughan Williams Piano Quintet that ends the concert is worth a second listen to get to grips with its glorious late romantic inventiveness. Why is it so rarely played? It remained unpublished for so long – and it involves a double bass. Not many ensembles have one of those standing by.

2021/22 STRINGS ATTACHED SEASON

We still have no details of the performers or the programmes for the next season but will repeat the provisional dates in case you haven’t noted them.

24 October 2021       14 November 2021     5  December 2021
23 January 2022       20 February 2022       20 March 2022

The concerts will once again be held at the Attenborough Centre for the Creative Arts (ACCA) at the University of Sussex because of the delayed reopening of the Corn Exchange..

OTHER EVENTS

Booking is now open for Brighton Festival which begins on 1 May.  A fascinatingly varied and rich programme is planned with open air and online events before 17 May and Covid-safe indoor performances from that date. Flexibility has been built into the programme in case the Government’s road map alters. For that reason there will be no printed programme. The concert on 19 May, featuring Adrian Brendel (cello) and Joanna MacGregor (piano), is in association with Strings Attached. Indeed, it is postponed from our 2020/21 coffee concert series.
